My Synopsis Over View
When Derek saw Sophia for the first time, he was struck by her beauty. After noticing her courage and kind spirit, he picked her to be his personal slave and companion. Sophia misses home, but the more she gets to know Derek, the deeper her affection for him becomes. He treats her, not as a slave, but as an equal who he dearly cares for.
Their bound becomes strong, but is Sophia truly happy with her new life? Can she be content living in complete darkness as a Vampire Prince's Slave? Or does her heart and desire for Ben still yearn within her?
Sophia just turned 17 and is vacation with her best friend, Ben, and his family - who are her temporary guardians. Sophia and Ben get into a fight because he ditches her on her birthday for another girl. When Sophia storms off onto the beach she is captured and taken to a secret secluded island that is called The Shade.
It is a place that is always night, because a witch cast a spell on the island to allow a clan of Vampires to live there. This Clan is ruled by a family called Novak. With a father, daughter and 2 sons; but, one of the Princes is the most feared and respected, Derek.
Derek awakes from slumber after 400 years. The Shades, which is created and over saw was thriving. His sister Vivienne, the clan's seer and his brother Lucas have made improvements and brought about some changes to the island's way of living. One thing that they brought about was human slavery. When Derek awakes, he was given a gift of 5 young women all around the age of 18.
Another vampire book series, but there is no Bella and their is noRose. We don't have Edward, James or Jacob; and there is no Dimitri (as a vampire) and no Adrian (even though he is a good guy). We have Sophia and with her comes a whole array of troubles. We also have Derek, Lucas and Ben.
Some things I thought were strange. They decided to use humans as their slaves. Which I guess could work, but what happens when they become no longer useful? Do they just drain their blood? I was also confused on how they determine which humans became labor slaves and which ones were personal slaves. It seemed to be all determined on beauty/attractiveness.
So Yes! I liked it.
Do I think you should read it! Yes! For a few reasons.
1) It is YA Paranormal and those are always fun.
2) It is only .99 on Amazon or you can get it on KU (kindle Unlimited)
3) Derek - need I say more.
